The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is staying in Las Vegas.

Friday, officials with the NFR reached an agreement on a new contract, which means the annual finals will be held in Las Vegas for another 10 years.

Both Orlando, Fla., and Dallas, Texas, tried to lure the big rodeo event away from its home of 29 years.

Las Vegas officials said losing the rodeo, which pumps nearly $60 million a year into the local economy, would have been a huge blow.

“We are relieved that we were able to assemble an agreement that both ensures that the Wrangler NFR will remain in Las Vegas for the long term and that all parties will prosper,” said Pat Christenson, president of Las Vegas Events, in a statement Friday.

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) announced today its 2014 and 2015 television plan, featuring CBS Sports Network (CBSSN) as the new home of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Yeah, thank goodness. I was off about 10 days, so by the time right when I got home from the Northwest it was about two days later I started feeling really worn out, so the timing of it was good. I didn’t have to miss any work or do anything like that, so it was good.

Any Dallas Cowboys football fans reading this? Well, meet Scott Goldberg, perhaps the biggest Cowboys fan. “I’m a die-hard fan; I bleed blue and silver,” he says. Although he was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., it was his mom’s love for Tom Landry that started his obsession with the football team, and “now I have a whole room in my house filled with autographs, framed jerseys, footballs, all Cowboys stuff; I’ve even traveled to Green Bay, Dallas, Arizona, Chicago to watch them play,” says Goldberg.

But when the Cowboys games are televised, Goldberg can conveniently catch them at work—PBR Rock Bar & Grill at Miracle Mile Shops. The restaurant and bar is a hotspot for game-watching, and Goldberg helps run the establishment as the assistant general manager. “With all the TVs in here, we can televise 12 to 14 games at one time,” he says.

And with an amazing team of his own, Goldberg says it’s a welcoming environment for everyone. “I coach my staff, give them advice, just as if we are a sports team,” he says. “They’re all great kids. It’s like one big happy family.”

The father of the twenty-five year old cowboy is Troy Pruitt, the 1990 World Champion Tie-down Roper. Riley won the Nebraska High School Tie-down roping championship three times and finished third in the average at the College National Finals Rodeo in 2011, before hitting the pro rodeo trail full time.

The year 2016 has been his best yet, with him entering the WNFR in ninth place in the standings with $74,547 won in the regular season. His winning winter put him in a great spot – he won the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver, Odessa, Texas, the second round in San Angelo, Texas, and placed in San Antonio.

I enjoyed it. It was nice. The weather here’s been unusually warm for November, so it’s been good. Things are good. We’ve got a good end of the year. I’m going up to Canada tomorrow for a couple of days, then I’m home for a couple of weeks for Thanksgiving, then we head to Nevada. I think it’s been 15, 16, 17 years straight I’ve been coming out there.
